  2. Put the needle on to to the syringe.
  3. Using the flame of a lighter or gas stove sterilise your needle until it turns red. Then allow to cool.
  4. Once cooled, use the Syringe to inject the grains through the Mushroom Substrate bag – this should be where you sterilised the Mushroom Substrate bag in step 1). Tip: you only need to have the very tip of the needle in the bag.
  5. Once you have injected the Mushroom Spore syringe make sure to apply some sticky tape to cover your needle hole.

You have now successfully inoculated your Mushroom Substrate bag with Mushroom Liquid Culture.

  1. After inoculation, gently move the bag the bag to a dry, dark area with an average temperature of 24°C. Tip: In a cupboard or in a draw is a good spot
  2. Check the bag after one to two weeks to ensure the grains have been colonised – they should appear whiteWhat'S In Your Mushroom Kit
  3. Once colonised, carefully mix the Mushroom substrate and grains together by shaking the bag, taking care not to damage the heat-sealed top.
  4. Place the bag in a dry, dark location with a temperature of 24°C for another 2 weeks. Finally, follow the fruiting instructions specific to your mushroom species, feel the bag to make sure its firmer than when you first started. Tip: Most Mushroom Substrate bags should be white in colour. some mushroom strains (like Lions mane) sometimes do not look like they are fully colonised, but as long as the bag feels firm your Mushroom Substrate bag is ok.

If you have any questions or queries please email us with a photo of your bag at any stage and we will let you know when to move each step
